Ball Provides Ventilator Canisters for COVID-19 Patients

October 01, 2020

In response to the coronavirus, health care systems and medical technology companies are working tirelessly to combat the pandemic. Many of our customers have announced plans to manufacture products that will help mitigate and cope with COVID-19 – from hand sanitizers and pharmaceuticals to aluminum components for laboratory and medical equipment.

Ball is proud to support Teleflex with aluminum slugs from our plant in Sherbrooke, Canada. The slugs are extruded into canisters which are used for ventilators called Concha Humidifier Cartridge that get oxygen to people who are struggling to breathe. Any COVID-19 patient admitted to the hospital could need one of these ventilators.

“While there is a lot of uncertainty with this pandemic, the one thing certain is that we’ll contribute in every possible way to fight this virus," said Sylvain Brisseau, vice president of Ball Aluminum Technologies. “Finding solutions to challenges is part of our business. We’re committed to work with our customers to increase production of slugs to meet the critical demand for this life-saving equipment.”

In addition to Teleflex, we’re working with other customers, who have been recognized as a critical infrastructure, to provide packaging and units to help meet the growing demand for essential products. We’re proud to help manufacture products that are critically in need today.

“I’m proud of our team members, their agility, and the work they are doing to keep operations running,” said Stan Platek, president of Ball Aerosol Packaging. “We’re in this together and part of something bigger.”
