Let's Can Hunger 2017

Ball Raises 1.5 Million Meals for Those in Need

Ball Corporation’s 2017 “Let’s Can Hunger” campaign set an all-time record by raising 1.5 million meals for communities in need throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Over two weeks, Ball employees donated 269,655 pounds of canned food, as well as $332,000 in monetary contributions.  This year’s event was the fifth annual campaign Ball has hosted. Collected cans at Ball Corporation Headquarters

The food and donations, combined with the Ball Corporation match and The Ball Foundation's dollar per pound match of food, will benefit more than 40 nonprofit organizations that improve local access to sufficient food resources for individuals and families in need. The Ball Foundation donated $1 per pound matched on all donated food.

Food insecurity remains a very real problem in every county in America. According to Feeding America, more than 42 million Americans live in food insecure homes and more than 13 million of those Americans are children. By providing 112 tons of food, Ball is contributing to a more food secure world.

This year’s record donations would not have been possible without Ball’s enthusiastic employees. Team captains across the continent encouraged participation in the campaign by organizing fun events such as ice cream socials and happy hours.
