SPEAK Inclusively

SPEAK Inclusively
By Manette Snow 07/12/2017

At Ball, we strive to create an inclusive work environment. Every day, you affect the people around you with your words.  Find out how you can use language that brings out the best in people, write emails that build relationships, and make people feel like they matter.  Learn how to speak up effectively by saying “OUCH” when someone uses inappropriate language and to let others know that there are better word choices.  Be part of the conversation and learn how to speak more inclusively.

Listen to the podcast hosted by Charles Johnson, director, diversity and inclusion, and guest speaker, Scott McCarty, director, communications and engagement, Beverage Packaging North & Central America.

Loved the Vlog, the podcast and the speaking inclusively video. I am guilty of saying "guys" all the time. I will definitely be more conscious of that. What makes this important is also because Ball is Global and we all interact with people from so many different cultures and it is easy to offend someone without even knowing that we did. A series like this will help us be more aware and conscious of our language. This way sometime in the long run we will become more inclusive in our language and approach. I am definitely All in !

Great intro video, very conversational and I like the tips. I am so guilty of saying "Guys", this was a great reminder and in a way that wasn't threatening. Thank you. I'M ALL IN

Great idea to use a vlog and podcast to reach all Ball employees regarding this topic! I think the vlog was great and the topic of speaking inclusively is something that is relevant in all work areas and business units at Ball. I really enjoyed the additional video on "Speaking Inclusively" and think it would be a great addition to the onboarding material for new hires. Great job, Manette, CJ and your teams!

I'm all IN! Appreciate the message to include positive intent and accountability to both parties or sides of a conversation. Keep an open mind in learning and uncovering what is important to your teammates and business partners, as well as patience with others as we all come together as One Ball. We are all different, which is the one thing that makes us the same. ;) #diversity&inclusion #community Great job team!

Manette Snow's vlog is informative, friendly and inviting. I enjoyed both seeing and hearing her communicate respectfully and candidly, not only explaining the purpose of the vlog going forward, but also discussing the first example and communicate if something makes one (or several) feel uncomfortable, or adjust your delivery. The first podcast was also terrific, I felt like I was listening to NPR, where an interview feels more like an informal-yet-informed conversation. 'You all' have done a great job on this effort!
