Ball’s sustainability management, performance and goals are regularly reviewed by third parties.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
Launched in 1999 and regarded as one of the world's foremost sustainability index families, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices track the stock performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. Ball has been included in the 2013/2014 DJSI World and the DJSI North America for the first time, and is the only packaging company listed in both indices. Ball earned industry-leading scores in all three dimensions: economic, environmental and social. The company scored particularly well on criteria integral to its Drive for 10 and sustainability strategies, such as codes of conduct (integrity), customer relationship management, product stewardship (innovation and recycling) and human capital development.
Ball became a member of the FTSE4Good Index Series on the London Stock Exchange in 2009 and has been confirmed as a member every year since then. The FTSE4Good Index Series has been designed to measure the performance and facilitate investment into companies that meet globally recognized environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
Carbon Disclosure Project
Ball has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2007 and has improved its score each year. With a 2013 score of 78 B, Ball has been ranked among the top packaging companies assessed by CDP.

STOXX Global ESG Leader Indices
For the third consecutive year, Ball has been selected as a member of the STOXX Global ESG Leader Indices in 2013. STOXX ratings are calculated for three sub-areas: environmental (E), social (S) and governance (G). In the containers and packaging subsector, Ball is one of only two companies in the 2013/2014 STOXX Global ESG Leaders index. In addition, Ball is listed as a member of the STOXX Global ESG Environmental Leaders Index and the STOXX Global ESG Social Leaders Index.

To promote and support responsible investment, NYSE Euronext, the world’s largest exchange group, and Vigeo, a leading European expert in assessing responsible performance, launched a range of socially responsible investment indices. The US 50 index was launched in July 2013 and Ball has been selected as a member immediately - the only constituent from our sector. The index comprises the 50 most advanced US companies in the areas of Environmental, Social and Governance performance.
