1. How do I know if my organization and project is eligible to receive a grant from the Ball Foundation?
You will be required to take an eligibility quiz when you enter the online application site.

2. Does the Ball Foundation accept grant applications for programs outside of Colorado?
No—we focus our grant making in the areas surrounding Broomfield, Colorado, where our corporate headquarters are located and where 25 percent of our global workforce lives. We do targeted match programs in the other U.S. communities where Ball operates.

3. Does the Ball Foundation provide event sponsorships?
No, the Ball Foundation provides grants for specific projects and programs as opposed to sponsorships.

4. Who may apply for a grant?
The Ball Foundation provides grants to eligible organizations through targeted initiatives in our corporate focus areas of: STEM education (preference for programs supporting engineering and diversity), metal packaging recycling, and food security and disaster relief.

5. Where do I forward my proposal?
We do not accept paper proposals; you must apply online.

6. Do I have to complete the entire application in one online session?
No. You may complete a portion of the application, save your information and return to the web site at a later time to finish and submit the application.

7. How do I access an incomplete application that I saved, but have not yet submitted?
Browse to, log into the system with your ID and Password, and click on the incomplete application to finish your request.

8. When do you accept proposals?
In 2016, the Ball Foundation has two application deadlines: March 4 and August 19.

9. When will I be contacted about the status of my proposal?
Generally organizations can expect a response 6-8 weeks following the application deadline. Please do not contact the Foundation for updates about the status of your proposal.

10. If I want to mail a copy of my request for review, to whom do I address it?
We do not accept paper proposals; you must apply online.

11. If my proposal is not accepted can I apply again?
Yes, but organizations that have been denied funding by the Ball Foundation must wait one year before being eligible to reapply for funding for the same program.

12. Can one organization receive multiple grants?
Yes. Please submit one application for each grant request.

13. Do you make grants to individuals?
No, the Ball Foundation does not provide grants to individuals.

15. If my organization’s 501(c)(3), tax-exempt public charity status is pending, does my organization qualify to receive a grant?
No, your organization must have an approved status.

16. What IRS designations does the Ball Foundation consider eligible for funding?
Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3), tax-exempt public charities and accredited public or private schools or universities.
