Ball

Reporting Hub

In 2016, Ball published its fifth biennial sustainability report, covering calendar years 2014-2015. We produce our sustainability report in portable document format (PDF) and printed reports are available on request. Electronic versions of the latest and previous reports are available for download.

Our sustainability report complements our financial reporting and covers the sustainability topics Ball and our stakeholders confirmed in 2013 to be most material to our company. Customers, employees, investors and suppliers are the primary audiences for our sustainability reporting.

Our fifth biennial sustainability report details our progress toward out updated priorities-product, stewardship, operational excellence, talent management and community ambassadors- and sets a clear path for the future with 10 new ambitious goals to be achieved by 2020.

BALL.COM/SUSTAINABILITY

Our website includes supplementary information and additional sustainability topics. We update our website annually with the past year's performance data and provide updates on our progress toward our sustainability goals.

ASSURANCE

The information in our sustainability report is subject to internal reviews and, for selected content, external reviews. We engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP to externally assure our 2015 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scope 1 and 2), energy, water and waste data. The review was conducted in accordance with attestation standards established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The Report of Independent Accountants and the Management Assertion are available for download.

Since 2004, we have obtained third-party reviews for our GHG emissions. A formal assurance process for our GHG emissions was conducted for the first time in 2012. In 2013, we added water and waste data to the assurance and in 2014 energy data.

REPORTING BOUNDARIES

Unless otherwise stated, we are reporting information globally covering facilities where Ball has operational control, which includes owned and leased manufacturing facilities, major administrative offices, external warehouses and research and development facilities. Further details on reporting principles, boundaries and data normalization, as well as an external assurance statement and are available on this website.

Our 2015 sustainability data reflects one significant change in reporting scope compared to data published in the previous year. In line with the boundaries of our past GHG emissions reporting, using the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard developed by the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, we now include all environmental metrics from our joint venture in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, a 50-percent investment owned by Ball and Thai Beverage Can Ltd (TBC). We assume operational control and therefore include their environmental metrics in our data. Other small restatements to data published prior to 2015 may be included following subsequent review of historical data. References to "Ball" throughout our sustainability reporting pertain to Ball Corporation.

GLOBAL REPORTING INITIATIVE

Our reporting has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative's (G4) sustainability reporting guidelines at the "Core" level. A detailed GRI Content Index is available online.
