Director of Security

Mike Witt is the Director of Security and Chief Security Officer of Ball Aerospace. He is responsible for the security and safeguarding of defense and intelligence-related aerospace programs.

Mike is a security professional with 36 years of operational experience. Prior to joining Ball Aerospace, Mike was the Director of Security at Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems.  A decorated veteran, Mike retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Air Force in 2005 with 26 years of active duty service, holding multiple field commands and staff positions. These included Deputy Director of Security, National Reconnaissance Office, Washington D.C.; Program Security Officer for the Air Force’s F-22A Raptor air dominance fighter program at Wright-Patterson AFB Ohio; and U.S. Air Force Antiterrorism Program Manager at the Pentagon.

Additionally, Mike completed a four-year term as one of eight private sector members of the National Industrial Security Program Policy Advisory Committee (NISPPAC). The NISPPAC, comprised of both government and industry representatives, is responsible for recommending changes in industrial security policy through modifications to Executive Order 12829, its implementing directives, and the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual.

Mike is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy at Quantico Virginia, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (B.A., Geology), Troy University, Troy Alabama (M.P.A.), and the Wharton School Program for Security Executives.
