Paula Burns

Director, Information Technology Services


As Director, Information Technology Services (ITS) for Ball Aerospace, Paula Burns is responsible for setting the strategic direction, architecture, infrastructure and governance of the company’s IT enterprise.

Most recently, Burns served four years as the deputy general manager of Ball’s Tactical Solutions (TS) business focusing on operational growth strategy to meet needs of rapidly growing business. She began her career with Ball in 2004 where she managed the TS IRAD portfolio and proposal office for TS. She then played an integral role in establishing the Program Management Office. She returned to TS and became director of production for the TS business in July 2008.

Prior to joining Ball, Burns was a management consultant focused on IT infrastructure and risk mitigation. She managed several IT development projects and played a key role in business strategy and development at major telecommunications company and startups. Additionally, Burns served as a Naval aviator, combat support pilot and later served in the Air National Guard, earning both U.S. Navy and Air Force pilot’s wings. She retired from the military in 2008 as the Inspector General for the Colorado Air National Guard.
Burns earned her Bachelor of Arts in American History at the University of Pennsylvania and her commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve through the school’s NROTC program. She has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver.
